How to Print Passport Photos at Home
Printing passport photos at home is simple and far cheaper than visiting a photo studio. All you need is a color printer, photo paper, and a correctly formatted photo file from PhotoPassport.app.
What You Need
- A color inkjet or laser printer
- Glossy or satin photo paper, 4×6" (10×15 cm)
- Your passport photo print sheet
- Scissors and a ruler
Correct Print Settings
Set your printer to its highest quality setting — usually "Best", "Photo", or "Ultra". Choose 4×6" (10×15 cm) as the paper size and disable "fit to page" or auto-scaling. The photo must print at 100% scale.
Print at 600 DPI for best results. The absolute minimum is 300 DPI — lower resolution prints may be rejected.
Step-by-Step
- Open your print sheet file (received by email after checkout)
- Select Print and choose your printer
- Set paper size to 4×6" (10×15 cm)
- Set quality to maximum / photo quality
- Confirm scaling is 100% — no fit to page
- Load glossy or satin photo paper and print
- Let dry for 2 minutes, then cut out each photo
No Printer at Home?
Upload your print sheet to any online photo lab — Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, or Snapfish — and order a 4×6" print for under $0.30. Pick it up the same day.
Will Home-Printed Photos Be Accepted?
Yes — provided the photo meets official requirements. Use glossy or satin photo paper and print at sufficient resolution. Plain copy paper is not acceptable.
